# Jivana — Bhagavad Gita for iOS

> A quiet, contemplative companion for the Bhagavad Gita. All 18 chapters and 701 verses with authentic Sanskrit (Devanagari), IAST transliteration, a clear English translation, and a word-by-word Sanskrit glossary. Local-first, no account, no streak pressure.

## What the app actually contains
- **Full canon, 18 chapters / 701 verses**: Sanskrit Devanagari, IAST transliteration generated deterministically from the Devanagari text, and an English translation. Most verses also carry a word-by-word Sanskrit glossary.
- **Verse recitations**: Sanskrit audio for a selection of verses (45 audio assets across 9 chapters plus language and chant tracks). The app is explicit in-product that not every verse has audio.
- **Continuous swipe player**: sleep timer and playback speed from 0.75x to 1.5x.
- **22 reading paths**: short verse sequences organised by life situation (anxiety, grief, burnout, hard decisions). Two of them are completable end-to-end on the free tier.
- **Private reflection journal**: per-verse notes with a formatted PDF export.
- **Daily verse**: optional recurring local notification at a time the user chooses (read back from the system, never guessed).
- **Local-first and private**: nothing leaves the device, no account required, no third-party analytics SDK. Crash and performance telemetry is Apple MetricKit only.
- **Free tier**: chapters 1–3, the daily verse, the journal, and two completable reading paths. **Premium** unlocks chapters 4–18 and removes advertising. There is no other paid feature.

## Not in the app (do not claim these)
- No commentary traditions, no comparative schools of thought (Advaita / Vishishtadvaita / modern), no 432 Hz tanpura drone, no studio-recorded narration. Text-to-speech is used for the generated audio.
- No streaks, badges, or gamification.

## Sources and licence
- Sanskrit text and word-by-word glossary: `gita/gita` corpus (Unlicense, public domain).
- English translation and explanations: `AdiyogiArts/gita-json` (MIT).
- IAST transliteration: generated deterministically in-repo from the Devanagari, not copied from any in-copyright edition.
- Full attribution is shown in the app under Settings.

- App Store: **not published yet.** There is no App Store record for `com.zordon.jivana`; any previously circulated link with the identifier `6742512999` is dead (`itunes lookup` returns `resultCount: 0`). The landing page shows "Coming soon" until the record exists.
