2. Local-First Philosophy & Data We Collect

Jivana is engineered with a Local-First architecture. Your personal reading progress, bookmarks, journal reflections, and preferences are stored exclusively on your device using Apple SwiftData and are never uploaded to our servers or sold to third parties.

Journal Reflections & Bookmarks: Kept 100% locally on your iPhone/iPad.
In-App Purchases: Managed securely by Apple StoreKit 2. We do not process, store, or have access to your payment card details.
Advertising: In the free tier, non-personalised contextual advertisements may be served via Google AdMob. Every ad request is sent in non-personalised mode (npa=1), so no advertising identifier or cross-app profile is used to target you. Consent is collected through the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) and can be changed at any time in App Settings. Jivana Premium removes advertising entirely.
Crash & performance diagnostics: The app uses Apple's MetricKit to receive crash reports, hang diagnostics and performance metrics for your own device. These reports are provided by Apple, are not linked to your identity, and Jivana does not run any third-party analytics, tracking or attribution SDK.

3. Legal Grounds for Processing (GDPR)

We process minimal diagnostic or consent data strictly on the basis of:

Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR: Performance of contract (providing app functionality and fulfilling StoreKit purchases).
Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR: Explicit consent (the advertising consent form required by Google UMP in the EEA/UK, where applicable).
Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: Legitimate interest (ensuring application stability and preventing fraud).

4. Your Rights under GDPR

Under Articles 15–22 of the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and port your data. Because all personal reflections and reading histories are stored strictly on your local device, you can completely erase all data at any moment using the "Clear Local Cache" button in Settings or by deleting the app.
